1 Peter 1:19 (NAS)
And so
we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay
attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the
morning star arises in your hearts.
1 Peter 1:19 (NIVUS)
And
we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay
attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and
the morning star rises in your hearts.
You have chosen to hold onto God's word; you adhere and cling to it.
It is a treasured possession that is stable, firm, sure and trustworthy.
Through it, you learn God's thoughts. It sheds light and gives you
the power to understand moral and spiritual truth. You do well to keep it near to your heart; let your mind always be atttentive to it, for this is a beautiful, honorable and excellent thing!
As a lamp, it guides your steps, making them clear. It manifests God's will for your life. It keeps you from dark, dirty, and squalid places.
As you embrace it, the darkness does not overcome you
and you continually live in its Light.
Jesus Christ, the Word of God made flesh, is the Daystar of your life! He is the Light of the world and He is the Word of God who lights your path.
