12/30/13 Psalms 10: 5, 6 The Wicked Man Thinks He Will Not Be Moved, But...

 Psalms 10: 5, 6 (NAS)

His ways prosper at all times; Thy judgments are on high, out of his sight; As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them. He says to himself, "I shall not be moved; Throughout all generations I shall not be in adversity."

             Psalms 10: 5, 6 (NIVUS)
His ways are always prosperous; he is haughty and your laws are far from him; he sneers at all his enemies. He says to himself, "Nothing will shake me; I’ll always be happy and never have trouble."

The wicked man believes that his way will lead him to unlimited prosperity and wealth. It is the love of money that drives him to perform his evil deeds. However, his path will only lead to grief and anguish. In the end he will only find travail and pain. He will twist and writhe in his anxiety and fear. In time his journey will bring him distress, suffering, and torture. He will see the judgment and justice of the Lord God, if he continues in the way in which he is going.  He will be sentenced and punished, for he has acted proudly and exalted himself. Although he set himself high above others, inside he is rotten and wormy. He will be bound with the same bonds which he used to tie up others.

In his heart, the one who is hostile to God thinks that he will never be shaken or moved. He did not think he could be overthrown or dislodged from his place. He will be greatly shaken. He will totter, slip, and drop from his supposed high place. You, however, have put your trust in Adonai, the Most High God.  Your feet are firmly placed on the solid Rock, who is your salvation for all of eternity. The wealth and prosperity that the wicked seek will be yours in abundance. Though he is bound forever and ever, you shall be free and blessed.
