If one wants to keep an animal from running away, he may bind it with a cord, tying it to a fence or a tree. Police officers will bind criminals to arrest them and keep them under control. Kidnappers will bind their captives to keep them under their power. As can be seen, there are good ways to bind something and there are bad.
Did you know that you are bound to the Lord? You are not bound with physical cords or chains, but you are bound by your hope. You expect God to do good to you and for you, since He has already done the best for you. By allowing His Son to suffer, bleed, and die for you, you have been forgiven forever. You, therefore, look forward eagerly and wait for your expectations to be fulfilled.
You have made Adonai, the Lord God, your Lord and master. He supervises all of your affairs. As a husband supervises his home, a governor supervises his state, or a even king superises his kingdon, so the Lord God watches over you. Jehovah, who has always existed, now establishes your life, so that you abide and remain. He will not let you fall.
As you hope and wait expectantly for God, so He too waits longingly for you. He desires your presence as much or more than He wants you to desire His. God's desire is for you and He is greedy to do good for you Even when you were a youth, when you were empty and the world was shaking you at every turn, God's wishes and wants for you were only the best.
You, therefore, can confidently place your trust in Adonai, the Most High God. He is your refuge and security. Since you feel safe, you can be bold and conduct your life without care. You know that Yahweh cares for you watchfully. So bind yourself to the Lord in hope. You will not be disappointed.
