12/31/13 Psalms 10:7 Does Good or Bad Come Out of Your Mouth?

 Psalms 10:7 (NAS)

His mouth is full of curses and deceit and oppression; Under his tongue is mischief and wickedness.

             Psalms 10:7(NIVUS)
His mouth is full of curses and lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue.

Adonai the Lord has put power in the words that come out of your mouth. Your words can cleave, shatter, and break things or people in pieces.  Or you can use them against the wiles of the enemy. You can also use them to build and heal those you meet. You have a choice about what comes out of your mouth.

The mouths of the wicked are full of curses and swearing. They cannot speak anything except treachery and deceit. They cast out their evil words like an archer randomly shoots arrows.  They do not care who is pierced and hurt by them. They want to mislead and trick others into doing their wishes and betrayal is their middle name. They keep injury, oppression, and fraud under their lips; they are always ready to slander and accuse someone. Trouble and sorrow are their constant companions.

Your mouth, however, is abundantly filled with praises and thanksgiving to the Lord your God. You speak honestly and forthrightly. You are concerned if you offend and hurt another. When you make a commitment, you stick with it. Goodness and mercy follow you all the days of your life.

12/31/13 Revelation 22:14 Do You Have the Right to the Tree of Life?

Revelation 22:14 (NAS)

Blessed are those who wash their robes that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city.

             Revelation 22:14(NIVUS)

Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.

The Declaration of Independence of the United States of America states that every man, woman, and child has the right to the pursuit of happiness.  People pursue happiness in many ways, such as hobbies or relationships. Often this pursuit leads into sinful actions. Happiness obtained in this way is fleeting at best.  Then it takes more and more sexual exploits, more and more drugs, and more and more alcohol to get the same "buzz".  The pursuit soon seems futile, but people continue along this meaningless path, for it is the only way they know.

There is, however, a much better way to pursue happiness.   The word of God says a man is happy and blessed when he does what Adonai, the Supreme God, says to do. Following His orders and commandments will cause you to do well and act rightly. Keeping yourself in line with these precepts will prepare you for anything.

The Lord God has given you the freedom of choice and the liberty to do as you please. You can choose to do as He wishes or you can choose to follow your own wants and desires. You should realize that the choices you make today will affect your future.

When you choose to follow God's way, He will give you rights and privileges in His Kingdom that others will not have.  One of these is the right to the Tree of Life. By partaking of this tree, you will have a life that is real and genuine, and active and vigorous. Your life will be full and satisfying as you devote yourself to the Most High God. You will enjoy your life, for the Lord will keep you strong and fresh. And when you die, He will give you a new body that will last forever.

You will be a 'card carrying' citizen of Heaven and you will be able to go in through the gates of city. Because you chose to follow the Lord's commandments now, you will have access to everything God offers in the future.

12/30/13 Psalms 10: 5, 6 The Wicked Man Thinks He Will Not Be Moved, But...

 Psalms 10: 5, 6 (NAS)

His ways prosper at all times; Thy judgments are on high, out of his sight; As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them. He says to himself, "I shall not be moved; Throughout all generations I shall not be in adversity."

             Psalms 10: 5, 6 (NIVUS)
His ways are always prosperous; he is haughty and your laws are far from him; he sneers at all his enemies. He says to himself, "Nothing will shake me; I’ll always be happy and never have trouble."

The wicked man believes that his way will lead him to unlimited prosperity and wealth. It is the love of money that drives him to perform his evil deeds. However, his path will only lead to grief and anguish. In the end he will only find travail and pain. He will twist and writhe in his anxiety and fear. In time his journey will bring him distress, suffering, and torture. He will see the judgment and justice of the Lord God, if he continues in the way in which he is going.  He will be sentenced and punished, for he has acted proudly and exalted himself. Although he set himself high above others, inside he is rotten and wormy. He will be bound with the same bonds which he used to tie up others.

In his heart, the one who is hostile to God thinks that he will never be shaken or moved. He did not think he could be overthrown or dislodged from his place. He will be greatly shaken. He will totter, slip, and drop from his supposed high place. You, however, have put your trust in Adonai, the Most High God.  Your feet are firmly placed on the solid Rock, who is your salvation for all of eternity. The wealth and prosperity that the wicked seek will be yours in abundance. Though he is bound forever and ever, you shall be free and blessed.

12/30/13 Jeremiah 26:13 If You Repent, Misfortune Will Not Be Pronounced Against You!

 Jeremiah 26:13 (NAS)

Now therefore amend your ways and your deeds, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will change His mind about the misfortune which He has pronounced against you.

              Jeremiah 26:13 (NIVUS)

Now reform your ways and your actions and obey the LORD your God. Then the LORD will relent and not bring the disaster he has pronounced against you.

Your life is a result now of the previous choices you have made. You have either chosen right things or you have gone the wrong way. If you continue choosing the same things, your life will continue in the same direction.  If it is not the direction that you want to go, then you need to change your choices.  What you choose today will affect tomorrow.

One of the most important decisions that you can make is to decide to live your life to please Jehovah, the Lord. This will make you rejoice and you will be glad.  You will find that things will be well with you.  Your road will become more pleasing, as you change your deeds and practices to line up with God's words.  No longer will you deal severely with others; you will have no desire to make a fool of another person.  You will not be ruthless or abusive. Instead you will do good and you will see and enjoy the beauty around you.

When you listen to and obey the voice of the Lord, He will not do you any evil. If He has spoken threats and warnings against you, He will repent and change His mind concerning you. He will extend comfort and compassion to you.  He wants to converse with you as a friend and fulfill the promises He has made.  Therefore, you should take an interest and be attentive to Adonai, the Most High God.  You will not be disappointed if you do.

12/29/13 Proverbs 1:12 You Will Not Be Swallowed

Proverbs 1:12 (NAS)

Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, Even whole, as those who go down to the pit;

Proverbs 1:12 (NIVUS)

let’s swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole, like those who go down to the pit;

Do you feel like you are being swallowed up by your circumstances?  Are you in the middle of family problems and strife seems to engulf you? Perhaps you are having trouble on your job? Maybe you have been stabbed in the back or walked on by a co-worker? Everywhere you turn, you see enemies who only want to end your life.

Do not despair. The Lord will not abandon you to those who can destroy your life. The Lord your God has made your life to be fresh and flowing. He will not allow others to squander your goods and prosperity.  They have no power to take you down to hell with them. Adonai will revive and restore you. No matter what state in which you find yourself, God is your sustenance and your maintenance.  His will is for you to live prosperously. In Him you are whole and complete, sound and full of health. Your end is not death and the grave, as those who seek to finish you off. You will not be consumed, spent, or destroyed. No pit can hold you.

12/29/13 Acts 13:38, 39 Jesus Forgave Your Sins and You Are Free

 Acts 13:38, 39 (NAS)

Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.

              Acts 13:38, 39 (NIVUS)

Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.

There are many important principles that you need to learn about the kingdom of God. One of the first that needs to be announced and proclaimed to you is that Yeshua, the Messiah, has released you from bondage and imprisonment. He paid for the pardon and forgiveness of your sins. Through the blood of Jesus, God has let your sins go as if they had never been committed.  The penalty has been remitted. Sin cannot hinder you any longer. Now you have the power to no longer wander from the path of uprightness and honor. You have no desire to do wrong or violate God's law.

Indeed since you are persuaded and believe in Jesus Christ and have made Him your Lord, you are rendered righteous. Adonai, the Most High, has pronounced you just and upright. You are virtuous and keep the commands of God. You are innocent, faultless, and guiltless. You are being wholly conformed to the will of God. You are approved and accepted of the Lord.

You are now separated from all those things that rendered you unrighteous.  Even though the Law of Moses was able to convict you of sin, you are no longer under its jurisdiction. The grace of Jesus Christ has forever set you free.

12/28/13 Proverbs1:10, 11 Do Not Consent If Sinners Entice You

Proverbs1:10, 11 (NAS)

My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. If they say, "Come with us, Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us ambush the innocent without cause;

           Proverbs1:10, 11 (NIVUS)

My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them. If they say, "Come along with us; let’s lie in wait for someone’s blood, let’s waylay some harmless soul;

Jehovah, the Lord, loves and cares for each and ever person, whether they are saints or sinners. He is especially protective of the innocent.  These have His heart and He will defend and vindicate them.  He has even suggested that someone who does harm to a little child should hang a millstone around his neck and throw himself into the depths of the sea. He knew that this fate would be preferable to falling into the hands of the Living God.

In man's natural state, sinning is normal. God, in His love and mercy, has done everything possible, through the shed blood of His Son Jesus, to deliver them and give them a new nature which desires to worship rather than sin. There are some people, however, who will never listen to God's voice and will remain offensive criminals. If they do not repent, they will be condemned, for they are guilty.

These sinners are not content in their own sin, but will try to lead stray Adonai's chosen people, if that is possible.  Activated by their "father", the devil, they try to delude and deceive the godly.  Through flattery and enticements, they persuade others to walk with them on their destructive course. They gather silly and weak followers to do their bidding. They love nothing more than to lurk and lie in wait for the innocent and blameless. They see them as "easy marks". They set ambushments, so that they will be the first to draw blood. It is their delight to see the guiltless perish.  They think that if they get rid of all the people who trust God, then they will have free reign over the earth, for they know the godly hinder them.

Therefore, as a child of God called to build the Kingdom of the Lord, you should not acquiesce to these wicked ones.  Do not consent to their evil actions or rest content in seeing them prosper. You should resist them at every turn, for the Lord your God may use you to save an innocent life from destruction.

12/28/13 Acts 13:34 God Raised Jesus From the Dead, Never to Decay

Acts 13:34 (NAS)

And as for the fact that He raised Him up from the dead, no more to return to decay, He has spoken in this way: ‘I WILL GIVE YOU THE HOLY and SURE blessings OF DAVID.’

           Acts 13:34 (NIVUS)

The fact that God raised him from the dead, never to decay, is stated in these words: "‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’

Adonai, the Most High God, always keeps His promises and He promised that His only begotten Son would not remain in the realm of the dead.  God, therefore, raised Him up.  Yeshua simply stood up from the stone bier that held His lifeless body.  He was kept intact and escaped safely from death. God upheld and sustained His Son's authority and power.

Now the Lord God will never again see corruption or destruction. His body will not undergo decay. His vigor and strength will not be consumed. His suffering is finished and He is now glorified. He is undefiled by sin and free from wickedness. He is pure and holy. He is in harmony with His Father.

Since Jesus has been raised from the dead, you now have escaped its sting.  Like the Lord, you will be glorified.  Purity and holiness are normal for you. And you sing the same harmonious song with the Lord your God.

12/27/13 Proverbs 1: 8, 9 Hear Your Father's Instruction

 Proverbs 1: 8, 9 (NAS)

Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, And do not forsake your mother’s teaching; Indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head, And ornaments about your neck.

Proverbs 1: 8, 9 (NIVUS)

Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.

Parents...we have all found them exasperating at times.  As children, when we were disciplined, we may have thought our parents were just being mean. As teenagers, we thought we knew better than the "old folks". However, as we grow older and become parents ourselves, we are often amazed at how much wisdom that our parents really had.

Your father knew that you needed his instruction and guidance, even if you did not. His chastisements, corrections, and rebukes were to build you and make you very fruitful. He knew if you would listen and obey, then you would become a valiant man, whose way would be sure and secure.

Likewise your mother set down some laws and precepts for you to follow. Her words were what bonded the family together. She knew that if you rejected them, then others could easily pound and smite you.  If you forsook and cast off her statutes, you could be cast off and forsaken as well. She understood that you would suffer in your rebellion.

As you obey and regard the sayings of both your father and mother, you will be rewarded with Adonai's kindness, favor, and grace.  You are precious in His sight and He will make your life pleasant.  He will crown you with His mercy. You will come to the forefront as a ruler, captain, and chief. You shall be liberally furnished in all that you do.

12/27/13 Acts 13:32 Preach the Good News

Acts 13:32 (NAS)

And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers, that God has fulfilled this promise to our children in that He raised up Jesus,

           Acts 13:32 (NIVUS)

We tell you the good news: What God promised our fathers he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus.

When people in our society think about God, they usually think of all of the religious rules that they have to keep to please Him.  They have been taught the "do's" and mostly the "don’ts" to stay in good favor with the Almighty. Rarely have they heard that the gospel of Jesus Christ is good news.

You, however, have heard the joyful tidings of God's kindness extended to mankind through His Messiah. When the angels announced the birth of the Savior, it was the fulfillment of the promise of blessing and good that the Most High had given.

In Jesus Christ you have received salvation. You, therefore, should take the lead in telling others of how you are well off and prospering because of this salvation working in your life.  You may have to lay hold of some people and bring them to the throne of grace and others may just need you to accompany them in their journey.  The way you live your life will guide, direct, and influence others for Jesus Christ.

12/26/13 Proverbs1:7 The Fear of the Lord Is the Beginning of Knowledge

 Proverbs1:7 (NAS)

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

            Proverbs1:7(NIVUS)

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

There are many things to fear in the world. Terrorism and its threat grow daily. The fears of getting sick, losing a loved one, or being homeless plague many people. These and things like them can paralyze and exhaust a person. Such fears are never productive and are often destructive.

However, there is one fear that is actually good for you to have. Adonai, the Most High God, is worthy of your respect and honor and you should fear displeasing Him. Even though the Lord God is abundant in loving-kindness, patience, and mercy, you do not want to see His wrath, for it is terrible. When you revere Jehovah, the Eternal God, you are building a future for yourself, a future in which you will rejoice.

Everything in your life should begin with God. He is the captain, chief, and head; every excellent thing comes from Him. If you need knowledge on a certain subject, you should start by inquiring of the Almighty. God, through His Spirit and His word, will instruct and advise you, which will help you comprehend His will. As you are diligent, you will discover all that you need to know and understand.

You do not want to be like the foolish man, who is disrespectful and despises the Lord. This man scorns God's wisdom and holds Adonai's chastisements and warnings in contempt. He is without restraint, and undisciplined. Since he will not receive the Lord's instruction and correction, he places himself to receive God's rebuke and punishment.

You, however, are in a place to receive blessing and provisions from the Lord.  As you continue to honor and reverence Him, you will gain even more wisdom.

12/26/13 Luke 2:19 Ponder God's Word in Your Heart, As Mary Did

Luke 2:19 (NAS)

But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.

            Luke 2:19 (NIVUS)
But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

When you think of Mary, the mother of Jesus, you think of a sweet, pure young girl, who loved Adonai with all of her heart.  And that is certainly true, but you may be surprised to learn that her name means rebellious or contentious.  The Most High God chose a vessel that epitomized the state to which mankind had fallen; all were rebellious and disobedient against their Lord.  He sent His Son, your Savior, through Mary, who had also been touched by the sin of rebellion. She, like you, also needed His salvation.

Mary knew that the baby that she bore was special, but she may not have fully realized at the time just how important and special he was.  When the shepherds came and reported to them what the angels had proclaimed, she took those things to heart.  She did not want any of those words to perish or be lost; she, therefore, guarded them and carefully attended to them. She continually brought them to mind and conversed about those words within herself. This kept the vision and hope alive for her and for others, as well.

Like Mary, when you hear a special word from God for your life, you should treasure it.  You should keep and guard it.  You need to pay special attention to it, for it is your very own possession, something that the Lord gave you to sustain your dream and vision. Let it continually come to mind and meditate on its truth.  Chew on it, as cow chews its cud.  By doing this, you will receive the most nourishment and strength from Adonai's word to you and your faith will grow strong.

12/25/13 Proverbs 1:6 The Lord Will Give You Understanding

 Proverbs 1:6 (NAS)

To understand a proverb and a figure, the words of the wise and their riddles.

             Proverbs 1:6 (NIVUS)

For understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.

You should make it your goal to understand each proverb and parable contained in God's word. Often the Lord speaks with similes and allegories, which you should diligently consider.  Adonai has given you superior intelligence, so that you can discern and perceive all that He tells you. Even if others have put you down as lacking in the mental realm, God has given you the power to rule and have dominion in this area. He has given you the ability to learn and to receive instruction. You can distinguish between what comes from God and what does not.

Sometimes you may think that you do not understand what wise men are saying, but the Lord proclaims that you have the ability to interpret another's words, even if they sound like a foreign language to you.  What you hear may seem to be a puzzle and a conundrum, but as you are diligent to study and meditate on these words, you will eventually know the interpretation.  The Lord your God will give you the answer to any riddle or hard question that presents itself to you.  Nothing you hear should tie you into a knot. As you trust God, He will show you the solution. He will not keep you in the dark, but will reveal the Truth.

12/25/13 Luke 2:17, 18 Make Known What You Have Been Told About Jesus!

 Luke 2:17, 18 (NAS)

And when they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds.

               Luke 2:17, 18 (NIVUS)

When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.

You know your life has been made better because of your relationship with Jesus Christ.  The glad tidings, that the angels declared to the shepherds, have become reality in your life.  The peace and joy that can only come from Adonai, the Most High, is now yours.  Like those ancient shepherds, you have seen and perceived the goodness and kindness of the Lord.  And like the shepherds you have a desire to share this good news.

The shepherds discovered the Son of God, laying in a manger, and they worshiped Him.  This experience changed them forever.  When they left the holy family, they were not the same men as they had been when they came.  And they had no other choice, but to tell others of what they had seen and heard.

So as they went back to their homes and their fields, they began to publish abroad all that had happened. They did not discriminate in what they said, but made everything thoroughly known to their families, friends, and acquaintances. Every word that the angels had spoken about the child Yeshua was relayed.  The words of God freely poured forth from their mouths to all they met.

The shepherds gave no thought to how their words were received; they knew that they had a mandate from God to share these wondrous things.  However, those who heard them wondered and marveled at their declarations.  These did not turn deaf ears to the shepherds, but paid attention; they were trying to understand and comprehend what they heard.

Like these shepherds, when you share the wonderful things that the Lord does for you, you need not be concerned about those who hear.  Though they wonder and marvel at you and your words, continue to proclaim the good news.  Many will pay attention to what you say and they will decide in favor of Jehovah the Lord.  Others may not want to hear, but your responsibility is to share.  Then they can decide for or against God's good will for them.

12/24/13 Proverbs 1:5 A Wise Man Hears and Increases in Learning

Proverbs 1:5 (NAS)

A wise man will hear and increase in learning, And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel,

                                                                     Proverbs 1:5 (NIVUS)

let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance—

Wisdom is not something that is spoken much of these days. For many years now, our society has been ruled by the concepts of "if it feels good, do it.", "do your own thing", or "look out for number 1".  These are all very selfish ideas and are totally opposed to living your life guided by wisdom. Although living according to wisdom seems to have gone out of style, it is still the best way to live.

Wisdom is a difficult word to define. A man of wisdom is one who is shrewd, prudent, skillful, and ethical.  He knows how to wisely administer his life and his business. He can be crafty and wily.  He is usually well learned and is subtle in his actions.  Although men of the world can have a form of wisdom, true wisdom only comes through the fear of the Lord. If you choose to live your life in fear of God, you will do what is right. Wisdom, which is open and honest, is exactly opposite to deception, which is closed and secretive.

If you are a wise man, you will hear and listen to the voice of wisdom, which comes from the Lord your God. When you understand what Adonai, the Most High God expects of you, you will quickly obey. Many may tell you that you are foolish to yield yourself to God, but you know that when you consent and agree to His will, you end up being happy and blessed.  Wisdom adds to and increases you, whereas foolish ideas bring decrease and destruction.

If you are perceptive and discerning, you will be diligent to acquire godly counsel. You should seek good advice, which will help guide and direct you. Listening to what others have to say is a good measuring line, but it is not always the best way to go. However, receiving wise counsel from godly people, while you are bound closely to the Lord, will often lead you to the right decision. You will not be ruined or destroyed, but will live in the redemption that the Almighty created for you.

12/24/13 Luke 2:15 Go and See What the Lord Makes Known to You

Luke 2:15 (NAS)

And it came about when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds began saying to one another, "Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us."

             Luke 2:15 (NIVUS)

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

Even if angels appear to you, giving you a message, it is wise for you to check it out.  You should see if the words spoken to you are in line with God's word. You should also be peaceful about what was spoken and should not step out on a word unless you believe it is truly from Adonai.

These shepherds had beheld a great thing when the host of Heaven's angels appeared to herald the birth of our Savior.  However, after the angels went away, the shepherds were quick to acknowledge that they needed to behold what God's messengers had proclaimed. Like any good shepherd, they needed to find out the Truth of what they had been told; so that they could protect and provide for the sheep in their charge.

It was actually to their advantage that they should go to the manger together; for their mutual experience would help strengthen their faith.  It was also good for them to go quickly after they heard God's word, since that would prevent Satan, the enemy of faith, from deceiving them and stealing that word from them.

They traveled to Bethlehem, which means "house of bread"; it was a place of sustenance and life.  The Lord God, the giver of life, chose this place for the birth of His Son. The shepherds desired to discover and perceive with their own eyes the marvelous things that they had been told.  This did not show a lack of faith, but, in fact, was a validation of their faith. God's word is always strong enough to withstand the minutest scrutiny.  The more knowledge one gains of God's word the more his faith grows.

The shepherds knew that the Most High had spoken to them and they stepped out on the faith of God's word.  If they had not gone to Bethlehem, they may never have seen Jesus Christ, their Savior and Lord.  So also it is with you.  You must decide to quickly act on the word that God speaks to you.  When you do that, you will always find yourself in a place of bread and provision. And you will behold the glory of the Lord!

12/23/13 Proverbs 1: 3, 4 Receive Instruction in Wise Behavior

  Proverbs 1: 3, 4 (NAS)

To receive instruction in wise behavior, Righteousness, justice and equity; To give prudence to the naive, To the youth knowledge and discretion,

Proverbs 1: 3, 4 (NIVUS)
for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young—

There are certain things in life that you need to lay hold of and seize.  When you are presented with an opportunity to receive discipline or correction, you should reach out and possess it for yourself.  You should lead and conduct your life through the teaching and instruction of God's word. When you choose and accept the Lord's chastening, it will carry you further down the path that you should go and you will become more prudent and wise.  It will teach you to be circumspect, careful, and cautious, but it will also show you how to prosper and succeed.

The insight and understanding that you gain will produce righteousness and justice within you, so that you treat others right and justly.  The decisions that you make will be proper and fitting. You will find that your way is even and smooth, allowing you to walk straight and uprightly. Your life, which used to be chaotic and distressing, will become pleasant and agreeable.

Whether you need to be shrewd and crafty, or subtle and prudent, God's word will give you wisdom. If you are simple and naive, gullible and easily deceived, you will always receive the counsel of the Lord, when you need it.  Perception and discernment will become yours. Nothing will be able to shake you, wear you out, or use you up. Your life will have purpose and you will enjoy it to the full.

12/23/13 Luke 2:13, 14 A Multitude of the Heavenly Host

Luke 2:13, 14 (NAS)

And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased."

              Luke 2:13, 14 (NIVUS)

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

Have you ever been confronted with an angel?  If not, can you imagine how you would feel and respond to such an unusual and awe inspiring event?  Can you imagine how the shepherds felt on that wonderful night when the Lord Jesus was born?  Perhaps they were just getting used to one angel, the messenger of God, speaking to them, when suddenly and unexpectedly something else happened.  In a blink of an eye the one angel was joined by a multitude of the heavenly host; there were so many that the whole sky was filled with these glorious beings.

These servants of the Most High appeared to praise, extol, and honor God. Over and over they proclaimed His greatness; they lauded and affirmed that Adonai's will had been accomplished in the earth.  The Lord God allowed them to speak forth His promise.  They cried, "Glory to God in the Highest."  They knew God's splendor, excellence, and majesty and they freely proclaimed that to men.

Even though God is the Supreme Ruler of the earth, the angels spoke to the shepherds of God's heart towards mankind.  They declared the peace that had come through the birth of the Savior. He came to bring salvation and tranquility to the souls of men.  Through the Lord, men could have security, safety, prosperity, and joy.  This multitude spoke of God's good will towards men.  They knew that the Heavenly Father did not extend ill will, but goodness, kindness, and benevolence to those of the earth.

When you chose Yeshua as your Messiah and Jesus as your Lord, you became a partaker of Adonai's good will that the angels declared.  You need not fear God's wrath, for He is satisfied and takes pleasure in you. He wants you to fare well and prosper.  And that is good news!

12/22/13 Proverbs 1:1, 2 Obtaining the Wisdom of Solomon

Proverbs 1:1, 2 (NAS)

The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:

To know wisdom and instruction, To discern the sayings of understanding,

             Proverbs 1:1, 2 (NIVUS)

The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:

for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight;

Some people exalt in their mental superiority; they are always trying to impress people with their pithy maxims.  They are quick to discourse on their latest discovery to show off just how intelligent they are.

There are others, however, who speak in poetry, parables, and proverbs to help someone else.  They use similes and allegories to make something clearer and easier to understand.  Jesus Christ was one such person, as was King Solomon of the Old Testament.  Both demonstrated their power to rule through their speech.  Solomon, the son of Israel's beloved King David, was a man of peace, who sought counsel to reign from Adonai, the Most High God. You, therefore, should pay attention to his words, for they come from Almighty God.

Solomon knew that he needed wisdom. He recognized that it was the only thing that could make him a skillful ruler, who could deal well and justly with his people.  He was aware that God's instruction, chastisement, and reproof were necessary for him to be wise. He could only advise and instruct others through the discipline and correction that he received. As he was reformed, he could teach others the way to their reformation. Wisdom allowed him to more easily distinguish between what was right and wrong. Through the Lord's word, Solomon became cunning and discerning. He gained understanding from the promises that God gave.  He left a legacy of being the wisest man that ever lived.

If you would like to have wisdom like Solomon, then you must do what he did.  You must pay close attention to all of Adonai's words, instructions, and directions.  As you choose to follow all of these, you will learn to rule and reign as one of Israel's greatest kings

12/22/13 Luke 2:10, 11 Good News of Great Joy

 Luke 2:10, 11 (NAS)

And the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

                           Luke 2:10, 11 (NIVUS)

But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

How many births are announced with messenger angels from Adonai, the Most High?  I would say very few; in fact, I only know of One who warranted such honor and attention. In this instance, He sent His messenger angels to proclaim the birth of Someone who would change the world forever, Someone who would lead men out of darkness and into the light!

The first thing that the angels told those shepherds so very long ago was that they should not fear.  They did not need to be seized with alarm and run away.  The angels knew that the shepherds were about to behold an awesome thing; for they had come to announce good news and glad tidings which would reveal God's kindness extended to men. A time had come for men to begin to fare well and prosper.  It was something that was going to bring great joy and gladness to all men.

The angels came to announce the birth of the Son of the King!  Adonai chose Bethlehem, the city of David, His beloved, for the birth of His beloved Son, the One who is the Savior, Deliverer, and Preserver.  Jesus Christ, the Anointed Messiah of God, had come to save and rescue mankind from sin. Danger and destruction no longer existed for those who put their faith and trust in Him. The suffering of disease and judgment had been vanquished through the Lord's birth, death, and resurrection.  He brought us healing and health, restoration and wealth.

Truly He is the Lord Most High and worthy of our praise and adoration!

12/21/13 Psalm 10:3, 4 Many Think There Is No God, But They Are Wrong

Psalm 10:3, 4 (NAS)

For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire, And the greedy man curses and spurns the LORD. The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him. All his thoughts are, "There is no God.

            Psalm 10:3, 4 (NIVUS)

He boasts of the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD. In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

The wicked and the ungodly have hearts that are filled with lust and greed.  They delight in disturbing God’s people and in violating God's law. They enjoy boasting and raving about their evil deeds. They do not understand that their foolish longings and rage are sending them right to their sepulchers and graves.

When the opponents of the Lord gather together, they congratulate each other on their wrong doing. They show off the plunder that they have gained through their covetousness and greed. Together, they blaspheme Adonai, the Most High God, for they are haughty and proud. In their distorted passion, they see themselves raised to great heights.

The Lord Jehovah, however, scorns these who have already condemned themselves. The Almighty abhors and despises these guilty ones.  They have no life within and so do not bloom or blossom. They do not flourish, for they do not pursue or follow the Lord. They do not seek the Supreme God, but bow their knees to Satan, the "god" of this world.  They are not diligent to inquire of God.  In fact, their thoughts are far from God, but are centered on their evil and mischievous plans.  They do not realize that these will only lead to their condemnation and punishment.

Therefore, do not be like the wicked, but diligently seek after the Lord your God. Keep your mind fixed on Him and you will be blessed.

12/21/13 Isaiah 9:6 For Unto Us a Child Is Born

Isaiah 9:6 (NAS)

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6 (NLT)

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. And the government will rest on his shoulders. These will be his royal titles: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Almighty God, the Heavenly Father, has brought forth His Son, born of a woman. He has given that Son, Jesus to men and to the children of men. He was entrusted into the hands of men and then delivered up to death by those same hands. It was the task His Lord assigned Him and He committed Himself whole-heartedly to it.

Adonai has bestowed on Him all rule and dominion. He now has the power to contend for the souls of those same men who delivered Him up. He holds the government of the affairs of mankind on His shoulders, for He has been raised up and sits at the right hand of God.

His name is proclaimed throughout all of creation. His reputation, fame and glory are well established. He invites and summons the sons of men to meet with Him. When these decide to accept His invitation with glad hearts, the Lord shares His name with them, covering them with His glory.

He is Wonderful, having carried out God's judgment and redemption in His own body. Although this act of love is difficult for men to understand, it is marvelous and extraordinary.

He is Counselor, for He has been made unto men Wisdom, Sanctification, Redemption, and Righteousness. By His Spirit, He establishes His purposes and plans in the hearts of those men who belong to Him.

He is the Mighty God. He is strong, powerful, and great. He is valiant and prevails mightily against the enemy of men, the accuser of the brethren.

He is the Everlasting Father. He is the Word, who was with God from the beginning. He was with God and He was God. He, then, became the Word made flesh and dwelt for a short time with mankind. He now reigns forever as the Head of the Church, for He was the first born of many brethren.

He is the Prince of Peace, Shalom! In Him, men are made complete, whole, and sound. His kingdom is one of quiet tranquility and contentment. Health, prosperity, and safety are received through His friendship. He is Lord and reigns forever over all.
